San Jose police have announced the arrests of two men in connection with a gang-motivated attempted murder that occurred six months ago. Jose Valle, 43, and Benjamin Mendez, 25, both residents of San Jose, were taken into custody on September 30. Police said Thursday that the arrests stem from a violent stabbing incident that took place on April 10 in the 3800 block of Monterey Highway, an area situated near the city's Edenvale and Seven Trees neighborhoods.
The incident that led to these arrests occurred in the early morning hours of April 10, specifically around 1:45 a.m. According to police, the stabbing took place outside a business located within that stretch of Monterey Highway. Investigators reported that a man became involved in an altercation with a group of individuals. This confrontation quickly escalated into a violent assault, during which the victim was reportedly stabbed multiple times.
Authorities identified Valle and Mendez as suspects in the case and initiated efforts to locate them. On September 30, law enforcement successfully apprehended both individuals. Jose Valle was arrested in Fowler, a community situated within Fresno County. Simultaneously, Benjamin Mendez was taken into custody in Redwood City, which is in San Mateo County. Following their arrests, both men were transported and booked into the Santa Clara County main Jail. They currently face serious charges, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, as stated by police.
