San Jose detectives, utilizing automated license plate reader data, tracked and arrested two Texas men in Dallas less than three weeks after an attempted home invasion in South San Jose. Damian Vielma, 20, and Jeremiah Clybourn, 19, now face multiple charges and are awaiting extradition back to Santa Clara County.

The two men are accused of posing as delivery workers to conduct various crimes across multiple jurisdictions, including the city of Atherton. The investigation by San Jose Robbery Unit detectives led to their apprehension in Texas after data from a license plate reader in South San Jose helped identify their vehicle.

The incident in San Jose occurred on September 5, at approximately 9:30 p.m. San José Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance at a residence in South San José. Home surveillance cameras captured two male subjects attempting to deliver a package. During this attempt, one of the men, wearing a ski mask, brandished a firearm. Both subjects then fled the area in a vehicle before officers arrived at the scene.

Following the attempted home invasion, the San Jose Robbery Unit detectives launched an investigation. Their efforts, significantly aided by Automated License Plate Reader data, quickly led to the identification of the vehicle used by the suspects. This crucial piece of information allowed detectives to pinpoint the individuals involved.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Vielma and Clybourn. On September 24, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Dallas Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the San Jose Police Department Covert Response Unit, the pair was arrested in Dallas. The collaborative effort across state lines facilitated the successful apprehension of the suspects.

During the service of a search warrant at the home of Vielma and Clybourn in Dallas, detectives reported finding evidence related to crimes, along with various firearms. This included a firearm that was used in an incident in San Jose, linking the suspects directly to the local crime.

The investigation further revealed evidence connecting the suspects to multiple other crimes spanning various jurisdictions within the South Bay. In these incidents, the suspects reportedly posed as delivery personnel, typically targeting victims who possessed a high amount of crypto wealth. This pattern of operation indicates a coordinated effort in their alleged criminal activities.

Following their arrest, Vielma and Clybourn were booked into the Dallas County Jail. They face charges for multiple crimes, including attempted robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and firearm-related offenses. Both individuals are currently awaiting the extradition process that will bring them to Santa Clara County to face justice for the alleged crimes committed in the region.
